Donald N. Christensen died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at his home in Delta. He was 89.
Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Delta. Interment took place at the Franktown Cemetery in Franktown on Dec. 10.
Don, who was known as "Bumps," was born May 30, 1924, in Castle Rock to Chris Christensen and Clara Bader. He grew up in Castle Rock and graduated from Douglas County High School.
He married Marjory Petry on Jan. 21, 1947.
Mr. Christensen ranched in the Franktown and Castle Rock areas for several years, then worked for the State of Colorado and Douglas County highway departments, Martin Marietta, the Rexall Drug Store in Castle Rock and finally IBM. He lived in Boulder, Longmont and Tucson, Ariz., where he retired from IBM. He moved near Olathe to be closer to family.
He is survived by four children, Kathy (Charles) Evans, Donald (Laura) Christensen, Barbara (Bill) Mertz and Robert (Shellie) Christensen; 33 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Marilyn Holdaway.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
