Orville Wesley "Wes" England died Dec. 15, 2013, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. He was 90.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. A private family graveside service will be held at Cory Cemetery.
Mr. England was born in Montrose Sept. 3, 1923, to Willis and Lou (Garrison) England. He spent his childhood on a farm west of Montrose and attended school in Montrose.
He logged in California for 10 years before moving back to Colorado where he farmed, ranched and tended an orchard. He lived in Austin for 55 years.
On Nov. 20, 1951, he married Mary L. Henderson in Cedaredge.
For most of his life, Mr. England was a community leader. He was a DMEA board member, president of the Delta Lions Club, president of Grand Mesa Resort, town manager of Orchard City for 35-plus years, a member of IOOF Eckert Lodge and served on several ditch company boards.
He received the American Water Works Association award for the Orchard City water distribution system.
He enjoyed hunting, farming, ranching, taking care of his livestock and being with family.
Mr. England is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary England of Austin; two sons, Leonard (Karen) England of Glenwood Springs and Michael England of Rico; two grandchildren, Brandon (Brittney) England of Montrose and Andrew (Brittney) England of Fruita; and three great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Karley, both of Fruita and Katelynn of Montrose.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald, Stanley, Joel, William and Carl England; and one sister, LaVerne Lee.
