Former Delta resident Mary D. Ledesma died Dec. 18, 2013, at Larchwood Inns Nursing Home in Grand Junction. She was 94.
She was born in Trinidad Feb. 9, 1919, to Bacilio and Isidora (Maestas) Dominguez.
She married Joe Ledesma in 1938 in Longmont. They moved to Delta where they owned and operated Ledesma & Son Farms. Their farm was recognized as one of the top three farming operations in 1973 by the Tri-River Agribusiness Association.
Mrs. Ledesma enjoyed family, friends, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and gardening, especially roses, irises and strawberries. She cooked for family, friends and harvest crews.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m, Friday, Dec. 27, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Delta. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Michael. Graveside services will follow at Mesa View Cemetery. A luncheon at Pioneer Hall at St. Michael will follow interment.
Mrs. Ledesma is survived by her daughter, Irene Ledesma of Grand Junction; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ledesma of Delta; five grandchildren, Greg Ledesma of Centennial, Tina (Steven) Moralez of Delta, Todd (Christina) Ledesma of Delta, Tamara (Eric) Steadham of Simpsonville, S.C., and Tony Ledesma of Grand Junction; eight great-grandchildren, Candis (Jake) Parrish, Steve (Vandy) Moralez, Gabrielle Steadham, Vanessa Steadham, Paige Ledesma, Rachel Ledesma, Shelbi Ledesma and Trevor Ledesma; and two great-great-grandchildren, Titan Moralez and Scarlett Parrish; a sister, Daisy (Joe) Rodarte of Brighton; a sister-in-law, Jennie Cruz of Montrose; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; a son, Trino Ledesma; an infant granddaughter, Mary Ledesma; her sisters, Rita Sandoval, Rose Garcia, Cleo Roybal and Esther Sandoval; and her brothers, Ben and Roy Dominguez.
Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction or to St. Michael Catholic Church in Delta.
