Benjamin O. Draves died Dec. 29, 2013, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 75.
He was born in Nucla Oct. 19, 1938, to Edward and Addie Draves. He grew up and went to school in Nucla.
He married Mary Foster Feb. 23, 1958, in Nucla.
Mr. Draves worked on a drill rig, was a miner, a rancher, a lineman for Moffat Telephone, did farm tire service and sold produce for Red Hat.
He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting and playing jokes.
He was a member of Mount Lamborn Masonic Lodge #102.
Mr. Draves is survived by his wife, Mary Draves; his children, Frances (Jim) Darter of Helper, Utah, Edward (Fran) Draves of Alamosa, Joe (Francine) Draves of Goodman, Mo., Ben Draves Jr. of Texas, Paul (Essie) Draves of Rawlins, Wyo., and Arlis (Juanita) Draves of Cedaredge; a brother, Les Draves of Alamosa; four sisters, Adeline Draves of Colorado Springs, Louise Williams of Hooper, Lucille Paulson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mary Ann (Bill) McKee of Aztec, N.M.; 34 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and John; and three brothers-in-law, Clyde Stewart, Paul Williams and Bill Paulson.
