Donna "Deane" Burgess died Dec. 28, 2013.
She was born and grew up in Denver, graduating from South High School.
She worked at Lowry Air Force Base during World War II.
She received a master's degree from University of Denver and taught school.
In 1948 she married Gerald Burgess. They moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she helped put Gerald through dental school. They moved to Delta in 1955.
Mrs. Burgess moved to Fort Collins in 1982 where she worked as a real estate broker and a medical transcriptionist until she retired.
She volunteered for Senior Alternatives in Transportation, Meals on Wheels, Poudre Valley Hospital and Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.
She moved back to Denver four years ago.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her sons, Tim (Linda) Burgess of Baltimore, Md., and Chris (Kathy) Burgess of Durango; daughter, Melissa (Mike) Yacullo of Parker; and grandchildren, Amy Lindwall, Megan Burgess, Mallory Yacullo and Michael Yacullo.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Stover Street in Fort Collins.
