Thelma I. Anderson of Cave Junction, Ore., died Jan. 22, 2014, at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass, Ore. She was 96.
A graveside service was held Jan. 28 at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Battle Creek, Neb., Sept. 22, 1917, to George and Mettie Hawkins. She grew up and attended school in Eckert.
In 1935 she married Newman Anderson in Delta County.
She attended beauty school and owned and operated her first beauty shop in Delta.
In 1941 she moved to Long Beach, Calif., and later to Morgan Hill, Calif., where she owned and operated her second beauty shop.
After retirement she moved to Cedaredge in 1979. In 2005 she moved to Cave Junction to be with family.
For many years Mrs. Anderson attended and taught Sunday school at Grace Baptist Church in Morgan Hill, Calif.
She enjoyed reading and weekend sightseeing trips.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two sons, Wesley Anderson and Dennis (Lisa) Anderson, all of Sutter Creek, Calif.; a daughter, Janna (Gary) Perry of Cave Junction, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newman Anderson; a sister, Eula Horn; and a brother, Clarance Hawkins.
