Albert Hurford

Albert Alva Hurford of Delta died Monday, March 26, 2012, at his home. He was 84.

Mr. Hurford was born April 26, 1927, in Plain-view, Texas, to Arthur and Althea (Anderson) Hurford. He spent his early childhood in New Mexico and attended school in Texas.

He served in the United States Army 333rd Engineer Special Forces during World War II.

Mr. Hurford married Rebecca "Becky" Manzanares on May 28, 1989, in Las Vegas. They celebrated 21 years of marriage. She survives. He was previously married to Martha Hurford.

He lived in California for many years before moving to Delta 25 years ago. He was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking and being a handyman. He was a former member of the Delta Odd Fellows.

Mr. Hurford is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Hurford of Delta; three sons and their wives, Donald and Kathy Hurford of Pleasantview, Utah, Dale and Barbara Hurford of Chico, Calif., and Dennis and Rose Hurford of Riverside, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Melissa and Phil Claypool of Abilene, Texas; a brother and his wife, Royce and Barbara Hurford of Roswell, N.M.; two sisters, Nova Murray of Gainesville, Texas, and Vella Hoff of Seattle, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and J.D.; two sisters, Minnie Sparksman and Fay Anderson; and a son, Danny.
