New condition put on hen houses

The Board of County Commissioners has added a new condition to its Specific Development approval for Rocky Mountain Layers on Powell Mesa above Hotchkiss.

Rocky Mountain Layers is to obtain the services of a qualified air quality or air pollution engineer and submit an operations plan for ensuring the quality of air emissions from the 15,000-hen egg laying facility.

The Colorado State Patrol has identified the driver of a vehicle killed in a rollover accident on Highway 92 May 26. Frederick J. Lee, 59, of Grand Junction was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Prison is focus of community meeting

On Thursday, June 13, the Colorado Departments of Local Affairs and Corrections and the Governor's Offices of Economic Development and International Trade and State Planning and Budgeting, will co-host a meeting in Delta to discuss the state's plan forward for appropriately utilizing state prisons and assisting communities which may be adversely impacted by potential prison closures in the future.

The meeting will be held at the Delta County Courthouse, 501 Palmer, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Artists invited to capture Paonia

The Blue Sage Center for the Arts is accepting entries for this year’s competition.The 4th of July and Cherry Days is approaching, and in Paonia that includes the Blue Sage's annual "Paint Paonia."  This is a plein air painting event in which artists spend one day capturing on canvas what is special to them about Paonia and the surrounding area.
