Nov. 5 has come and gone, and the board of trustees for Delta County Libraries is faced with some very tough decisions based on voters' disapproval of the library district ballot issue.Although the overwhelming support the libraries received throughout the process was encouraging, the issue was not successful, and the library district is faced with reduced property tax revenue for 2014.
The last of 15,000 organic egg producing hens have been removed from their new, high-tech chicken barn facility on Powell Mesa.
In a letter to the Delta County attorney's office on Monday, Karen Budd-Falen, the Hostetlers' Cheyenne, Wyo., attorney, said of the removal, "As such, the Hostetlers have fully complied with your order to cease and desist and there is no reason for any enforcement action or other substitute process."
Despite the national firestorm that has erupted in the wake of a school board member's comments about transgender students, Kathy Svenson is sticking to her guns. At a school board work session Tuesday, Nov. 26, she apologized for blindsiding fellow school board members with her statement, but not for the stance she has taken against transgender students in locker rooms.
Glen Black has resigned from his position on the DMEA board of directors effective Nov. 26.
Black's resignation followed a Nov. 18 decision by the DMEA board to retain counsel for possible legal action against the City of Delta.
