A home away from home
When John Taylor and Elizabeth Thompson purchased the towering brick home at the top of Delta's 4th Street hill in early 1994, they had no idea they were embarking on a "never-ending fix-up campaign."
Eighteen years have passed and still their to-do list outlines projects for indoors and out.
Family roots run deep
Miriam Hartig feels that the following quote from "Fiddler on the Roof" relates to her family history. "Sunrise, sunset, swiftly fly the years —One season following another laden with happiness — and tears."
She has albums filled with photos, a wall of hand and footprints of 23 great-grandchildren, another wall of wedding photos of family members, and a written record of her grandparent's immigration to America.
Easter hoppenings
The Easter Bunny is hop, hop, hopping into Delta Saturday, April 7. The Delta Lions Club will host their annual Easter egg hunt in Cleland Park Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. sharp.
From 10 a.m. to noon, Bill Heddles Recreation Center will be the site of an Easter Egg Stravaganza.
Living in harmony
Every week a group of about 30 men gather at the Olathe United Methodist Church to share their love of music. These men comprise the Black Canyon Chorus, a vocal music group that sings four-part harmony.
Indoor flight
A group of radio control model airplane enthusiasts has found a way to turn their fair weather hobby into a year around fly-in by moving indoors to pilot their planes when the weather takes a seasonal turn for the worse.
Ruth Wild has spent more than half her life dedicated to swimming. Now, after 43 years of coaching, teaching learn-to-swim classes, leading swimnastics programs and managing the old Cleland Pool, she is retiring.
