Farm Service Agency (FSA) state executive director Leland Swenson urges producers who want to purchase coverage through the Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) to do so by March 17.
NAP provides financial assistance to producers of noninsurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory or prevented planting occur due to natural disasters.
Registration is now open for producers planning to grow industrial hemp during the 2014 growing season; registration closes May 1.
"We realize there is a great deal of excitement about this history-making season but there are also regulations to follow and challenges to consider," said Colorado Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture Ron Carleton.
The Bureau of Land Management's Southwest Colorado district is seeking public nominations for five open positions on the Resource Advisory Council, which advises the BLM on public land issues.
In the Southwest District, five positions are open including two Category 1 positions, one Category 2 position and two Category 3 positions.
The Bureau of Land Management Uncompahgre Field Office is seeking public comments on 18 Special Recreation Permit applications, including two new applications and 16 applications for renewals.
The BLM issues commercial SRPs to provide recreation businesses the opportunity to operate on BLM public lands, to provide the public the opportunity to use a guided service for recreation activities, to implement recreation management decisions and to ensure a fair return to the public for commercial use of public lands.
The 2014 Governor's Forum on Colorado Agriculture, themed "Farm to Table: What do Consumers Really Want?" highlights emerging trends in Colorado agriculture. The event is scheduled for Feb. 27, at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver.
