Disaster assistance sign-up is underway
USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Executive Director Alan Bull announced that producers can enroll in the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments (SURE) program for 2011 crop year losses beginning Oct. 22. Under the 2008 Farm Bill, SURE authorizes assistance to farmers and ranchers who suffered crop losses caused by natural disasters occurring through Sept. 30, 2011.

The booklet and video cover the three phases of any wind project: economic feasibility determination, pre-installation preparation, and installation and commissioning.

State makes water quality data available in online map
Water quality information assembled by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is now available to the public through a new tool on the agency's website, http://cogcc.state.co.us/
The database of water samples allows the public to view water quality for specific locations throughout Colorado and marks a significant milestone in the COGCC's ongoing efforts to monitor, protect and quantify water quality as part of its regulatory oversight of oil and gas development in the state.
WaterSMART program stretches water supplies
The Department of the Interior's WaterSMART program is saving water, finding better ways to stretch existing supplies and helping partners plan to meet future water demands, according to a three-year progress report on the program released Oct. 11.
Combining new initiatives with existing programs as part of a comprehensive strategy for sustainable management of water supplies in the United States, Water
SMART projects, along with other conservation activities, are expected to save an estimated 587,839 acre-feet of water a year — enough water for more than 2.3 million people.
