Although the Delta County Fair doesn't officially get underway until the week of Aug. 5, the county's 4-H'ers have their eyes on a couple of events that take place before the month is out.
On Thursday, July 25, 4-H'ers will model their clothing and decorative apparel for judges at the Delta Center for Performing Arts.
The fair is just around the corner and the Delta County Fair Board is looking for individuals interested in singing the national anthem before the arena events during fair, Aug. 3-10. The board will require the individuals to audition before they have a spot. Deadline for being considered is July 26 and auditions will be held on July 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Event Center. Please contact Teresa Burns at 872-2396 or 270-4493 for more information.
Feeding livestock for market is a business venture for our local kids, challenging them to produce a marketable animal that meets quality meat grading standards and which returns a profit. Additionally, through the 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) educational livestock marketing programs, members acquire knowledge and understanding of sound livestock production and management practices.
Colorado State University Extension's Tri-River Area is pleased to announce that Douglas Dean was hired on March 1 to fill the livestock/range agent position left vacant by Robbie Baird LeValley.
The new livestock/range agent holds a Bachelor of Science degree in range/wildlife science, as well as a Master's degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.
