Organize for success

The Delta Conservation District is hosting a workshop featuring DARCA, the State Ditch and Reservoir Company Alliance on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Memorial Hall in Hotchkiss from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The workshop will help all irrigation water users on the Western Slope meet the challenges of these changing times.

John Mc-Kenzie, the Executive Director of DARCA, and Eve Triffo, Secretary of DARCA and a member of the Oil Creek Ditch Company in Canon City, will present information to ditch companies and group laterals about the latest relevant irrigation water policy and regulations and about how best to organize into corporate entities in our modern reality. The presentations also will address the "Ditch Act", bylaws, operating rules and the responsibilities of board members.

All current board members of local irrigation ditch companies and group laterals, whether formally incorporated or not, and interested shareholders of such organizations will benefit from the information presented.

The workshop is free. Pie and coffee will be served. Please RSVP at 874-5726, ext. 121, to reserve your slice of locally made pie.
