Getting fit is more convenient than ever

a06 anytimePhoto by Pat Sunderland Club director Emily Wilson and manager Matt Luttrell are eager to get Delta area residents moving. “We’re not just another health club,” Luttrell said. “Our mission is to create a healthier Colorado, one community at a time.” They’re planning a fundraiser for Drug Free Delta County and have joined the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce and Delta County Economic Development. If getting fit was one of your New Year's resolutions, you're not alone. But how do you get started and stick with it?

You may find the answer at Anytime Fitness, which opens in Delta in mid-January. As a 24-hour secure access health club, Anytime Fitness is all about convenience — you can work out any time using a variety of equipment and programs to help you reach your fitness or weight loss goals.

Club director Matt Luttrell will be on hand to make sure you get off to a great start. A meeting with personal trainer Sarah Kornhauser is the first step in making sure you understand the equipment and how to optimize its use in a safe and effective manner. Club director Emily Wilson oversees both the Delta and Montrose clubs, which are owned by Guy Coffey.

Luttrell was born and raised in Montrose and recently graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a degree in sports management. Wilson also grew up in Montrose and has a degree in business management. Coffey owns five Anytime Fitness franchises in Colorado. When he opened the Montrose club six years ago, it was the 200th in the nation. The Delta club is the 2,000th, illustrating the popularity of the Anytime Fitness franchise, which is ranked #6 in the 2013 Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500 list.

At Anytime Fitness you'll find a broad array of cardio equipment, from treadmills to elliptical cross trainers, as well as weight machines and free weights. Unique to Anytime Fitness is a Synrgy360TM which combines several popular total-body, dynamic exercises into a strength-building system. Luttrell describes it as a jungle gym for adults.

In the multi-function room, club members can access "fitness on request," a menu of 45 classes from spinning to cardio to core to lightweight training.

Private changing areas with full showers, tanning, personal training and corporate wellness programs are also offered by Anytime Fitness, which is located on the upper level at 300 Stafford Lane in Delta.

Each member is provided with a key fob which allows access to the club anytime, day or night, 24 hours a day. After the first 30 days of membership, your key can be used to access any Anytime Fitness club, from Montrose to Portland.

"Our mission is to make a healthier Colorado, one community at a time," Wilson said. "We don't see Gold's or the rec center as our competition. Our competition is the couch — we want to get people moving."

Founders' memberships are being offered for a limited time, with "phenomenal" rates for individuals 18 and up who can't wait for the facility to open. Stop by 300 Stafford Lane, Suite 3024, or call 874-5000 for more information.
