Delta Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors Lynn Shirk and Gynee Thomassen welcome Jamie Lawrence (above), owner of WJL Bookkeeping, to the chamber on April 16. Lawrence does bookkeeping and administrative work and can be reached at 270-8659. On May 1, Dan and Beckie Korthuis and their daughters Annalena and Becca (below) celebrated the opening of the Brick Wall Eatery at 305 Main Street in Delta with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Delta housing manager named Colorado Site Manager of the Year

a10 foleyArdene FoleyArdene Foley, who has been employed by the Delta Housing Authority since 2007, was recently named the 2013 Colorado Multi-Family Housing Site Manager of the Year for Elderly Housing. The honor recognizes Foley's service, dedication and caring for the tenants of Grand Manor, a 10-unit housing unit in the central part of Delta.

Delta firm wins county work

During a meeting of mainly routine county business, the Board of Commissioners on April 15 approved some budgeted purchases including the award of a bid to a Delta carpeting contractor.

Commissioners accepted the low bid from Home Source, a first bid award for the company from the county, a staff member said.

The Delta-Montrose Technical College Law Enforcement Academy

Pictured (left to right) are Daniel Taylor, Steven Preece, Glenn Steil, Jimmy Logan, Eric Drumm, Christopher Isham, Eric Romisch, Jason Robertson, Cody Blackmon and Chance Davidson. The Law Enforcement Academy at DMTC is a 15-week Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) program providing the training necessary to take the POST certification exam required for employment as a peace officer in Colorado. The Law Enforcement Academy offers three training sessions each year.
