Aviation honors

a09 airportPhoto by Hank Lohmeyer Aviation honors The general aviation North Fork Airport on Stewart Mesa between Hotchkiss and Paonia was honored on Nov. 10 as an “outstanding airport” by the Colorado Pilots’ Association. In recognition of the honor, the Board of County Commissioners presented its own recognition to the airport during its Dec. 17 meeting. Shown above at the BoCC event from left are county commissioner Bruce Hovde; Neil Schwieterman, mayor of Paonia which is a co-owner with the county of the airport; Mike Clawson, North Fork Airport manager; and county commissioners Olen Lund and Doug Atchley.

His son-in-law, Luke McGaha, is now the owner of the business which specializes in headstones but can handle stonework and engraving of all types.

U.S. Tractor closes Delta John Deere dealership

The inevitable has happened. U.S. Tractor & Harvest, the local John Deere dealership, has consolidated in Montrose, leaving a gap on Highway 50 in Delta. A new building at 4766 N. Townsend Avenue in Montrose houses both the Delta operation and the Montrose dealership formerly located on East Main Street.
