All Points Transit receives award for public service

As a rural agency that has found innovative and effective ways to serve its passengers, All Points Transit is one of only three rural transit organizations chosen to receive the 2012 Federal Transit Administration (FTA) "Administrator's Award for Outstanding Public Service."

The award was presented Oct. 16 at the 20th National Conference on Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation in Salt Lake City, Utah, by Region 8 FTA administrator Linda Gehrke.

Hospital’s Stork’s Landing supports breastfeeding

Delta County Memorial Hospital has been recognized by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for implementing best practices to support breastfeeding. The Colorado Can DO 5 BEST (Breastfeeding Excellence Starts Today) Award was received at the first Colorado Breastfeeding Summit, held Sept. 18 in Denver. This award acknowledges facilities successful in implementing five proven practices supportive of breastfeeding.

Virtual Workforce Center demonstrated in Crawford

A Crawford job seeker sees firsthand how she can tap into a variety of services at her local library.
As part of Workforce Development Month, a time focused on services to job seekers and employers, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment joined forces with six libraries to provide demonstrations of a new technology called Virtual Workforce Centers. At libraries in Fairplay, Pagosa Springs, Cheyenne Wells, New Castle, Springfield and Crawford, job seekers had the opportunity to see how virtual case management, training, document storage capabilities and other features on dedicated workstations could assist in their job search.
