DMEA charges up meeting interest with electric cars

Fill ‘er up? No, plug ‘er in!  The Chevy Volt was Motor Trends “Car of the Year” for 2011 and also “Europe’s “Car of the Year.”  One is coming to the Montrose Pavilion on June 14, courtesy of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, to be showcased at DMEA’s annual meeting.
Electric vehicles including a Chevy Volt and alternative fuel vehicles such as a "Flex Fuel Hummer" will be on display at DMEA's annual meeting the morning June 14, at the Montrose Pavilion.

"It's "Flag Day," so a great opportunity to showcase cars that reduce our nation's reliance on foreign oil," explained Tom Polikalas, DMEA's public relations/communications supervisor and annual meeting organizer.

CB’s Tavern opens in historic Delta building

CB’s Tavern was a year and a half in the making, so Carrie Boyd and Cathy Boyd were excited to finally open the doors of their new business last week.
The historic ambience of downtown Delta has been embraced by the new owners of CB's Tavern. Located at 334 Main Street, the tavern is housed in the Stockham Building, which received historical designation in 2004.

Correctional Officer Amanda Martinez witnessed a bad motorcycle accident May 5 on her way home to Crawford. She stopped to help and rendered first aid to the victim, performing CPR until the North Fork Ambulance arrived on scene. For her unselfish act of assistance to a citizen in need she was awarded the Department of Corrections Recognition Coin Award by Major Mark Lizak.

‘President Taft’ to speak at DMEA’s annual meeting

The annual business meeting of the Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) will be held the morning of Thursday, June 14, at the Montrose Pavilion (1800 Pavilion Drive). Registration and voting will take place from 8-9 a.m. along with light refreshments and an opportunity to see energy and other exhibits.
