By the end of the first four months of 2011, eight people in Montrose County and four in Delta County had taken their own lives.

Nationally there are over 30,000 suicides in the United States each year — about one completed suicide each 16 minutes and one attempt every minute.

Flaming Gorge plan opposed Print E-mail

A proposal for a giant water project which at one time was called "The Big Straw," and that would siphon large amounts of water from Flaming Gorge Reservoir for piping to the Front Range, will be opposed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Following a discussion of the now-named "Flaming Gorge pumpback proposal" at their regular meeting Jan. 23, the commissioners directed staff to draft a letter opposing the idea.

The staff at Delta County Memorial Hospital takes infection prevention seriously. The results of the hospital's surgical site infection prevention program were recently published in the "State of Colorado Status Report on Health Facility-Acquired Initiative".

In December, the county adopted an ordinance that makes new construction without a required address permit illegal.

Then, on Jan. 9, the county raised the cost of its address permit.
