Cranes from Doughty Steel were used to position girders over the railroad tracks just south of Foster Farms. The overpass is one of the key elements of the alternative truck route currently under construction, because it will provide emergency access to and from North Delta when traffic on Highway 50 is blocked by a passing train. Jim Hatheway, City of Delta public works director, said the girders pictured above are about 100 feet in length. The girders being placed over 1st Street are roughly 80 feet long.
