Delta County Health and Human Services director Chuck Lemoine recounted a first-time-ever occurrence in his department during a recent report to the county commissioners.

Lemoine told how a recently discharged military veteran had received $90.25 for gasoline from the county's general assistance fund when he needed a hand up.

Members of the Delta Volunteer Fire Department are collecting donations for their annual fireworks display — the only fireworks show in Delta County held on the 4th of July. A spectacular display is planned over Confluence Lake.
