Down memory lane

A couple of rigs from the Grand Mesa Harness Club offered rides to residents of Crossroads Assisted Living Facility in Delta on Saturday, May 4. Above is Jim Rock and his trusty companion Blue in a nearly new carriage, pulled by Hannah. Dorothy Dingin and Gene Feazell enjoy the view from the back seat as they traveled along Seventh St. Also taking part was Mike Twamley, driving a restored hitch wagon pulled by his blue roan percherons, Turbo and Diesel. The club came to Crossroads in honor of one of its founding members, Nel Chaffee, who now lives at the facility. After rides, the club hosted a picnic and allowed residents a closer look at their horses. The club’s next event will be a driving demonstration at the Surface Creek Saddle Club Arena in Cedaredge on June 8.
