Three officials from Delta County Economic Development (DCED) were at the April 23 meeting of the Delta Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) board with a response to critical remarks about DCED's management of the local soil health program.

The DCED officials delivered a letter explaining the soil health program management in light of remarks that had been made by two DMEA directors.

Pulling the plug

Microwaves, bulky TVs and computer monitors piled up steadily during an e-waste recycling event held simultaneously in Delta and Hotchkiss Saturday. The event was so popular, extra trailers were requested to haul away the unwanted electronics. Above left, Shad Lewis and Ian Anderson lend a hand with leaders from their 4-H club, the Delta Hot Shots. Through this community service project, they helped local residents properly dispose of electronic equipment, the fastest growing garbage stream in America.
