City finance director Tod DeZeeuw reported an upward trend in sales tax collections from 2010 to 2011, and again from 2011 to 2012. DeZeeuw gave his report during a budget workshop last week.

Quilting for a cure

Hospital employee Brittney Madsen (right) joined Debra Coble and about 20 other quilters at an event hosted by the Basket Case Quilt Guild last week. The women spent the day cutting and sewing together strips of pink fabric to create blocks for a quilt to be donated to a local non-profit organization in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
