Congressman Scott Tipton made a brief stop in Delta last Saturday while en route from Grand Junction to Durango.

He and a staff aide met with the county commissioners for about 40 minutes.

The county human services department reports that for the first time since last April there was a decrease in the number of food assistance (food stamp) cases compared with the prior month.

The decrease is not large; 1,748 cases in February compared with 1,712 cases in March. A year ago the department had 1,482 cases.
