Nordic Council seeks volunteers for board

The Grand Mesa Nordic Council, which is holding its annual meeting on May 8 at the Bill Heddles Recreaton Center in Delta, is looking for volunteers to serve on its board of directors. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Nordic Council is seeking Nordic skiing enthusiasts and experienced leaders in the community, business or non-profits from Mesa or Delta counties. Previous board experience is a plus, but not essential. Board members and volunteers share the passion for Nordic skiing and environmental stewardship.

The board is recruiting a vice-president, treasurer, membership chair, and one additional board member. The board meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month from October to May and alternates its meeting locations between Grand Junction and Delta.

The Grand Mesa Nordic Council grooms 54 kilometers (32.4 miles) of trails on the Grand Mesa with funds donated by its members and trail users. It employs a small staff tasked with operations and grooming of Nordic trails. The focus of the council is to promote fun, safe, diversified cross-country skiing experiences on the Grand Mesa.
