Open house for retiring Dave Bradford

Dave Bradford, well- known rangeland management specialist for the U.S. Forest Service on the Paonia Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests has announced his retirement, effective Jan. 3, 2013. Bradford has enjoyed a stellar career with the Forest Service for over 35 years, and now thinks it is time to pursue other interests, not the least of which includes the local trout population.

In addition to his "normal" assignment as the lead range manager at Paonia, Bradford has served on the local North Fork Habitat Partnership Program committee for over a decade. He also has been a key member of the team that has conducted the highly successful Range Management Schools for Ranchers, both locally and across the western United States. His interest in documenting historical conditions on landscapes across Colorado resulted in the acclaimed book "When the Grass Stood Stirrup High".

Please plan to attend an open house to celebrate Dave's retirement Thursday, Dec. 27, from 1 to 4 pm. at the Paonia District Office located at 403 North Rio Grande Avenue. Refreshments and tall tales will be provided.
