Crawford sees $113,000 in 2013 revenue
The Town of Crawford is projecting $112,915 in revenues for 2013. The beginning general fund balance is $309,822.
That means available revenues for 2013 will be $422,737.
Included in the revenues are $7,100 in general property taxes, $1,400 in specific ownership, $25,000 in county sales taxes, $30,000 in city sales taxes and $10,000 in franchise taxes.
The final 2013 budget shows $173,406 in general fund expenditures. That leaves $9,000 in emergency reserves.
The budget for capital reserve and improvements revenues for 2013 is $15,000. The ending fund balance is $30,000.
The Conservation Trust fund shows $1,750 from the state lottery. $7,000 in park improvements are expected in 2013. The ending fund balance is projected to be $9,371.
The Crawford water fund is projected to receive $82,000 in user fees and $5,000 in tap fees. Total revenues are expected to be $87,100. With the beginning fund balance of $24,830 the total available fund balance for 2013 is expected to be $111,930.
Expenses for the water fund are projected to be $77,450.
The sewer fund shows $91,000 in revenue and $94,400 in expenses in 2013. The total available balance in the water fund at $102,299 which will leave $7,899 after expenses.
The capital projects fund has $150,000 in revenues and capital outlays of $153,723. With the starting fund balance of $3,723, the fund will have an ending fund balance of zero.
The mill levy for 2013 will be 2.42 mills resulting in $6,847.
The town council rejected not giving a cost of living raise to the town clerk and public works director. Former mayor Jim Crook said, "I think town staff deserves a raise." The two town employees did not take a raise last year. The council unanimously approved a 3.5 percent cost of living raise for its three employees.
Each employee received a $300 Christmas bonus.
In other business, the town is waiting for attorney James Brown to write an ordinance on retail recreational marijuana. It should be ready for the Jan. 2 town council meeting. A public hearing has yet to be scheduled, but the council will only hear comments from in-town residents. They advise out-of-town residents to speak with the county commissioners.
Don Ludwig of public works will attend the water conference in Colorado Springs from Feb. 11-15. The council approved his expenses of $200 plus lodging.
The Old Timers and Newcomers Dinner is scheduled for Feb. 9 at town hall.
Trustee Christie Young announced that a free sign at the Blue Mesa intersection of Highways 92 and 50 will point tourists in Crawford's direction for lodging and food.
Trustee Hetty Todd said the cemetery board had not met and therefore not signed their new agreement with the Town of Crawford.
Mayor Susie Steckel thanked the trustees and staff for their 2012 accomplishments. "I really like this council. We work well together. I'm proud of you."
