Crawford postpones council meeting

The Town of Crawford canceled its regularly scheduled council meeting for the first Wednesday of January.

Town clerk Jackie Savage said there were no items on the agenda for Jan. 2.

The council meeting will now take place on Wednesday, Jan. 16. There is currently one item on the agenda to approve a date and time to meet with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

The meeting with the BLM is to address concerns of the town about the oil and gas leases which are near Crawford School, town water supplies and the town's wastewater treatment plant. The meeting with the BLM is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 5 p.m.

The BLM requested question and answer sessions with each of the towns in the North Fork. A meeting is tentatively scheduled with the Hotchkiss Town Council on Monday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Paonia Town Hall believes a meeting with their town council and the BLM may happen in February.

Other outstanding issues for the Crawford Town Council are proposed ordinances concerning commercial recreational marijuana and floodplain insurance. Crawford town attorney James Brown has not completed those ordinances for council review.
