Elks seek grant to start a food bank

The Elks National Foundation gives Beacon Grants to local lodges to help serve the community and raise the profile of the lodge in the local community.

The Beacon Grant gives lodges the "opportunity to develop a new, ongoing, charitable, Elks-led community project."

The Hotchkiss Elks Lodge is applying for $1,000 to start a food bank in Hotchkiss. Exalted Ruler Bob Kapus said the food bank is "necessary for our community."
