KVNF wins three awards
The Colorado Broadcasters Association held its annual awards ceremony in Denver and KVNF brought home three awards to the Western Slope.
On Saturday, March 9, morning news host Brian Cambria attended the Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA) Awards of Excellence banquet.
KVNF had submitted four reporting pieces from 2012 for consideration and three of them were chosen.
KVNF is in its third year of growing a local newscast and expanding local reporting in public affairs. KVNF's local newscast airs at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday following NPR's Morning Edition.
In the category of Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast, KVNF's Arianna Brocious and Brian Cambria won a Certificate of Merit.
For Best News Special or Public Affairs, program director Ali Lightfoot won an Award of Excellence for her story on local motion entitled, "Tiananmen Sid and the Tank Driver."
In the category of Best News Feature Report or Series, news director Arianna Brocious won an Award of Excellence for her feature entitled "Ranchers struggle with drought."
KVNF's executive director Sally Kane was delighted by the CBA's recognition of their news efforts and gave credit to KVNF's news team. "The impact and value of KVNF's public service media mission has increased exponentially because of the dedicated efforts of this stellar team of journalists and producers. Our listeners are letting us know how much they appreciate this rare and essential news service," Kane said.
