Photo by Kathy Browning A happy goat Jim Schott raises goats outside of Paonia and receives lots of affectionate kisses from his baby goats. He has five little ones — three are three weeks old and two are one and a half weeks old. The two youngest are bottle-fed by Schott. The goats wag their tails the whole time they are feeding. Schott milks his Paonia goat herd and sells shares to people who want raw goat milk. Schott’s Front Range cheese company, Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy, gets its milk from the goat farm at the state penitentiary. The cheese is sold in City Market.
