Several meetings of local interest are schedules for this and next week.
Two meetings sponsored by NFRIA-WSERC Conservation Center, Citizens For A Healthy Community and others will take place about the proposed development of 22 parcels on 30,000 acres of land surrounding Paonia, Hotchkiss, Crawford and the Paonia Reservoir.
The first meeting is tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Paonia High School in the junior high gym. The second meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at Crawford Town Hall.
These meetings will feature a question and answer session, detailed maps of the proposed lease parcels, and opportunities for individuals to write comment letters to the BLM on the lease sale scheduled for August. Written public comments are due by Jan. 9
A public forum on the Bear Ranch Land Exchange will happen next Wednesday, Jan. 11, 7 p.m. at Paonia Town Hall.
