A military jumper with High Sky Adventures parachutes to an accurate landing at Paonia High School on Saturday, June 15. Students at the school had raised over $1,600 last December during their dodge ball tournament for Wounded Warriors. That school fund raiser spearheaded by Chris Allen led to last weekend’s event which was a benefit put on by Outdoors Alive at the Paonia Volunteer Fire Department with assistance by the Wilson-Head American Legion Post #97. Outdoors Alive is a non-profit that offers a Brothers in Arms Buck Creek Ranch Hunting Camp for veterans, wounded warriors and the wives of fallen soldiers. This was the first time the banquet was held in Paonia. Previously it was held in Glenwood Springs.
