Cyclists with the Bike Tour of Colorado left Paonia High School last Wednesday morning where hundreds had camped in colorful tents. The tour covered 438 miles. From Paonia the cyclists headed for Crested Butte. The participants were treated to local vendors, wine and beer at Paonia Town Park and live music at Paonia Library. Others enjoyed downtown restaurants, the tasting room at Revolution Brewing and ice cream cones at Ollie’s Ice Cream. Locals commented on how friendly the cyclists were. Amid all the happiness, though, was also a tragedy. One cyclist was killed in an accident in Somerset.
