Paonia Methodist Church extends a welcome to their new pastor, Rev. Charles Thompson of Grand Junction. Thompson and his wife Linda assumed leadership of the church July 1. Rev. Thompson will preach his first sermon July 7.
Rev. Thompson was previously the pastor at Paonia Methodist Church from 1984-1988. He commented, "I look forward to meeting past acquaintances and forming new friendships with the congregation. Linda and I are excited about being a part of the Paonia community."
Besides preaching in the Rocky Mountain Conference. Rev. Thompson served in the Arkansas Conference. Thompson is a native of Arkansas. Churches in Colorado that were a part of his ministry were Holly, LaVeta and Keenesburg/Hudson.
After his retirement in 2009, he became in 2010 pastor of membership care and nurture at Crossroads United Methodist in Grand Junction. His role was to help church members who were incapacitated to stay connected with the church. This included members who were homebound, hospitalized, in nursing homes or other facilities. He encourages all in the church family to take part in this ministry.
Linda and Charles have been married for 18 years. Between them they have seven children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.blog comments powered by Disqus
