Kristen Chesnik, the Town of Paonia's former finance officer, admitted Monday to the theft of nearly $400,000 from town coffers over a four-year period. At a hearing in district court, she waived her right to a trial and admitted the offense by entering into a plea agreement.

A walk through the woods

A flock of turkeys was walking in the wooded areas on either side of Stevens Gulch Road a couple of weeks ago. This one crossed the road and then decided to go back to the other side. Camera shy, perhaps.
