Sarah Sauter, executive director for the Western Slope Conservation Center, brought good news on May 14 when she visited the Paonia Town Council.

Several months ago she came to the council asking them to write a letter of support to accompany her grant application for trail planning with the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Photo submitted Carbondale artist Mark Mace participated in the Paint Paonia competition in 2012. His painting “Windy Grand Avenue” won third place. The Blue Sage Center for the Arts is accepting entries for this year’s competition.The 4th of July and Cherry Days is approaching, and in Paonia that includes the Blue Sage's annual "Paint Paonia."  This is a plein air painting event in which artists spend one day capturing on canvas what is special to them about Paonia and the surrounding area.
