Photo submitted Architect Bob McHugh and Shan Wo, an engineer with Atkinson-Noland & Associates, take measurements and evaluate the barn footers. Phase One — planning the restoration of the historic Hotchkiss Barn — is underway. A plan and a set of documents will enable a construction team to restore the barn to its original condition.

Craig Childs' book, "Apocalyptic Planet: Field Guide to the Everending Earth," has won the 2013 Orion Book Award. Childs, who resides in Crawford, will receive his award in a ceremony later this year, most likely in Boston.
