Herbarium set to open in Hotchkiss this month

Carolyn Sue Hall stands before the herbarium holding a record of a paintbrush. The new herbarium at the Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Museum and the adjoining Black Canyon VFW Post #9333 will have 300 catalogued plants growing in Delta County and its adjoining watersheds.
Carolyn Sue Hall has done the detail work of cataloging plants for decades. Her interest in plants began in third grade when she attended Mrs. Dirks' classes on plants and birds.

Paonia okays water study

The Town of Paonia has approved WestWater Engineering completing a $22,000 preliminary engineering report on how to have two lower springs feed the upper two million gallon system.

Recent water rate increases were in anticipation of the State of Colorado requiring upgrades and the need for additional water capacity.
