English Language Learners (ELL) from Lincoln Elementary and Garnet Mesa Elementary schools went on a field trip to learn about their Delta community. They met with community leaders in the downtown area who gave them hands-on information about the services they provide.

They visited with Chief Robert Thomas at the Delta Police Department, the Delta County Library, Wells Fargo Bank and Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic. They then traveled to Confluence Park where they met with national park rangers who provided small group activities and lessons on interacting with the earth's resources and exploring the lake and river environments.

The two elementary schools have four English Language Acquisition (ELA) teachers — Mrs. Beller, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Munoz and Mrs. King, and two paraprofessionals, Mrs. Galvan and Mrs. Flores-Saenz. Together these two Delta elementary schools serve 186 ELL students with first languages which include Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Vietnamese, and Romanian.
