A cultural celebration

Lincoln Elementary has a multi-cultural wall, “Where in the world are we from?” Students created posters of where their families came from. Places include Romania, Thailand, Mexico, Panama, Burma, Vietnam and the United States. Below, ELL students present a program for their parents. ELLs are students whose first language is any language other than English. These students are taught in English using ELL strategies. The ELLs presented a program consisting of a slide show, short plays, rhymes and songs. Information on parental involvement in their child’s education was presented as well. Students were rewarded with a book, and six turkeys were given away as door prizes. One hundred and sixty-eight people were in attendance at this event. Students, teachers and parents all worked together to make this ELL parent night successful.a08 ell2a08 ell3
