DMS hosts Math Counts competition
Paonia 1 team members Harley Ewert, Seth Brinton, Jade Ellenberger and Celine Audin placed first in Math Counts competition. The sixth graders are coached by Bob Bushta. Delta Middle School hosted a Math Counts competition
The sixth grade Montessori team of Will Ela, Baxter Waltermire, Kaiya Firor and Athena Peters, coached by Jennie Chavez, finished second. 
Sixth graders Poppy Lightfoot, Jaquelin Mora, Sackett Chesnik and Shyliea Clark make up the third place Paonia 3 team. Their coach is Bob Bushta.Dec. 7. Over 120 students from Delta, Crawford, Paonia, Cedaredge, Hotchkiss, Montessori, Delta Academy of Applied Learning and Colorado West Christian School participated.

These seventh/eighth graders from Hotchkiss 1 finished second. Pictured with coach Anita Evans are team members Rafi Wick, Roggen Frick, Parker Katzdorn and Zack Allen.In sixth grade, first place went to the Paonia 1 team with 35.75 points. Montessori placed second with 31.5 points, edging out Paonia 3's 31.25.
Paonia 1 team members Colby Simpson, Dagan Rienks, McKenna Hartigan and Haley Parks made up the third place seventh/eighth grade Math Counts team. Tim Esgar is their coach.
Individually, Harley Ewert of Paonia was first, Seth Brinkton of Paonia was second and Baxter Waltermire of Montessori was third.
Rafi Wick (Hotchkiss), Nathan Phillips (Delta) and Isaac Timbreza (Delta) turned in the top three individual scores among the seventh/eighth graders.Delta 4 topped the competition for seventh/eighth grade teams with 32.25 points. Hotchkiss 1 took second with 31.25 points, and Paonia 1 was third with 28 points.
Individually, Rafi Wick of Hotchkiss placed first, Nathan Phillips of Delta was second and Isaac Timbreza of Delta was third.
