Contract extended

The Delta County Board of Education has extended superintendent Caryn Gibson's contract through June 30, 2016.

Gibson was signed to a one-year contract as interim superintendent last summer.

That year was intended to give school board members time to determine if they wanted to launch a superintendent search with the aid of the Colorado Association of School Boards. Instead, they've been so pleased with Gibson's leadership they decided to forego the search. The announcement was greeted with applause from staff members at the Dec. 13 school board meeting.
