For the month of April, DMS staff would like to recognize several deserving students.
Mrs. Archuleta nominates Blake Naranjo for student of the month.
She says Blake is one of those students who tugs at your heart. He is always on time and prepared for class, and is probably the most polite sixth grade student at DMS. He has wonderful manners and is always helping a classmate in need. Blake always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He is a great student, but where he truly shines is in his writing.
"Blake is one of the most creative students in his class," Mrs. Archuleta says. "The class always wants him to share his writing assignments and he never fails to make us laugh. I will truly miss this young man when he goes to seventh grade."
This month's seventh grade student is Kate Castillo selected by Mrs. Hancock and Mrs. Parker. They say, "Kate is one of the hardest working students we have ever had and is completely engaged in the learning process. She perseveres through difficult tasks. This is demonstrated in reading where she has moved up more than two grade levels in six months. She is a quiet leader who leads by example; she is always volunteering and assisting her peers. She is always kind and helpful, even when she is not asked to do something. We wish we had more students like Kate. She has a very bright future!"
Four eighth graders are being recognized for April. Eh Bwe always tries her hardest, and despite speaking very little English is doing a wonderful job overcoming her circumstances. Her smile lights up the room and her peers look to her as the example of how to act and how hard to work. Eh Bwe is always happy. She never has a dull moment and lifts everyone's spirits. She works hard every day and is very respectful. Eh Bwe is positive and a great role model for all students. Mrs. Magner and Mrs. Quezada celebrate the success that Eh Bwe has had in her classes, as well as her achievements at DMS.
Teresa (Tess) James was nominated by Mrs. Hancock for her exemplary work in the classroom and wonderful attitude towards learning. Despite her quiet personality, Tess is liked and respected by her teachers and friends. She is an amazingly respectful and diligent individual even in the face of peer pressure. She is a very involved student with her academically challenging classes and her talent as a musician in the school band. She will be very successful at Delta High School.
Lizzy Ward sets the standard for excellence at Delta Middle School. She excels in academics, leads by example and models the expectations of DMS as she serves as the student body president. Each morning Lizzy leads the entire school in the Pledge of Allegiance and informs everyone of the announcements for the day. Lizzy is a student who is dedicated to her future, involved in service organizations, dependable to do a job and do it to the best of her ability. Some of her responsibilities are recycling, organizing student activities and supporting staff and students in school initiatives as recognized by Mrs. Couch.
Mrs. Magner acknowledges Gabe Annis for his growth and success this year. He participates in class and contributes meaningful ideas to class discussion. He is a happy-go-lucky young man with an infectious smile that brightens your day. Gabe seems to be friends with everyone and is a pleasure to get to know. Gabe is wished the very best as he finishes his eighth grade year at DMS and plans for his future.blog comments powered by Disqus
