Four members of Delta High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter have been selected to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., this summer. Tyler Werner, Thomas Duran, Josh Lindsey and Ridge Green outpaced the competition at the state FBLA leadership conference in Vail in early April to advance to the national level.
At the state leadership conferences, students annually compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference.
The team of Tyler Werner, Josh Lindsey and Thomas Duran earned first place in Emerging Business Issues. All three are 2013 graduates of Delta High School. Ridge Green, a DHS senior, placed second in Business Law.
Other individual and team competitors included:
Global Business — Marcus Valdez and Paige Bowling; Kaselyn Komives and Rachel Scroggs.
Cyber Security — Christian Mackey.
Management Information Systems — Alexis Williams and Jaimie Sutliff.
Entrepreneurship — Patti Chapman, Austin Kimber and Soraya Luna.
Accounting I — Taylor Phillips.
Banking and Financial Systems — Cruz Arias, Jazmin Damazo and Jayden Chynoweth.
Haley Donathon and Adara Sandoval were voting delegates.
The national conference takes place in late June. In addition to competing in their events, Werner, Duran, Lindsey and Green will attend workshops and visit exhibits to pick up ideas that could shape their career futures.
Donations to offset the cost of the boys' trip, estimated at $5,000, are being accepted. Call 260-7155 for more information.blog comments powered by Disqus
