Every year the Rotary Club of the North Fork Valley gives dictionaries to each third grader in the Hotchkiss, Crawford and Paonia elementary schools. Pictured above, third graders at Hotchkiss K-8 say “thank you” to the Rotary Club for their new dictionaries. Top row, left to right are North Fork Rotarians Glenn Dahlgren, Peggy Szvetecz, Karri Polson, Norm Lewark, Bill Bishop, Pam Bliss and James Schott who enjoy presenting these dictionaries to the students. Third graders looked up “service” in their new dictionaries to better understand the work of Rotary and “polio” to see the impact Rotary has made internationally. Third grade teachers Rhonda Pinkard and Chloe Masseria joined principal Carrie Coats in accepting the new dictionaries. “We absolutely love this program every year. We are very grateful for the Rotary Club for their donation to our Hotchkiss K-8 third graders!” Coats said. The dictionaries were presented to the Hotchkiss and Paonia students on Nov. 7 and at Crawford and North Fork Community Montessori schools on Nov. 8.
