Christmas came early at Lincoln Elementary School. On Dec. 4, the parent Pride Team held a raffle drawing and holiday open house.
For a few weeks, students had sold raffle tickets to their families and friends. The Pride Team anticipated raising $7,500 and the ability to afford to do one project at the school.
Pride Team members were shocked when the dollars started coming in. The final tally of the night: $10,054. Even more impressive was that this was the first year the parents tried a raffle fundraiser.
"We are so amazed," said Robyn Brown, a Pride member. "We will be able to do a lot more for our school now." The Pride Team plans to purchase several iPads, spruce up the playground, paint the kiva and hopefully get a "Lincoln Elementary School" sign in front of the school.
The grand prize of the evening, a five-day, four-night stay in the Bahamas, was won by Kay Carlquist. "We appreciate everyone who helped Lincoln Elementary by purchasing a ticket. The Pride Team does our best to help our amazing teachers, administrators and staff offer the best education possible to our children," Brown said. "We're happy we can help alleviate some of the budget pressures at the school by these efforts."
The Pride Team also extends gratitude to the following businesses and individuals that donated: Halvorson Family, Core One Drilling, Alpine Bank, DeltaBank Center, Ouray Pool, Todd Markley, Bill Carlquist, Black Canyon Aviation, Devil's Thumb Golf Course, Sunflower Room, Jennifer Roth Photography, Melody Rogers, El Tapatio, Egyptian Theatre, Fiesta Vallarta, Tara's, Mc-Knight's Jewelry, Delta Auto Parts – NAPA, Yost Dentistry, Grand Mesa Dental Hygiene, Susie and Matthew Horn, Curves, Brick Wall Eatery, C&J Café, Terry Perry, Luu's Nails, Davetos, Beauty and the Bling, Kathy's Nails, Rocky Mountain Pantry, Valley View Bakery, Ruby's Floral, Papa Murphy's, McDonald's, Domino's, Moca Joe's, Homestead Natural Meats, Hellman Chevrolet, Pizza Hut, Traci Gilmore – 31 Gifts, Ken Boese, Perry Hotz and Ron's Sawmill.blog comments powered by Disqus
