Art Partners make pottery, plan fundraiser

David Strong, well regarded local clay artist and clay teacher at the Creamery, spent three hours with a fascinated group of youngsters from the Partners organization and their adult mentors and staff.

Area students are Heisman finalists

Chelsy Reed, a student at Paonia High School, Skylyn Webb, a student at Delta High School, and Conner Beard, a student at Hotchkiss High School, were named state finalists for the 2012 Wendy'sĀ® High School HeismanĀ® Award program. Although they will not advance to the next phase of the program, they are among 20 of Colorado's top scholar-athletes to become state finalists.

State champs

The Cedaredge High School Marching Band claimed the Class 1A state championship for the second year in a row. The band competed at CSU-Pueblo Monday, outpacing performances from Platte Valley, Monte Vista and Gunnison en route to the state title.
